Nanchong Silk Shines in Geneva: China's Geographical Indication Brands Gain High International Visibility

On November 25, 2025, the “2025 World Geographical Indication Product Brand Distribution Services (Geneva) Conference & China Geographical Indication Brands event was successfully held in Geneva, Switzerland. Experts and scholars from the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD), and the World Trade Point Federation (WTPF), as well as enterprise representatives from various parts of the world, participated in the conference. Among them, Liuhe Group, as the representative of Nanchong Silk, gained high visibility from the international community.

At 10:00 a.m., the conference kicked off at the headquarters of the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO). Wang Anli, Director of WIPO’s Asia and Pacific Bureau, attended the conference. Zhang Yaning, Consultant of the Asia and Pacific Regional Development Cooperation Department, and Xiang Feifan, Creative Economy Expert of the Copyright Industries Sector, delivered speeches on topics such as the Asia-Pacific geographical indication protection system and the upgrading of creative economy and brand value respectively, providing professional guidance for the international development of the geographical indication industry. Ming Gang, General Manager of Liuhe Group, gave a speech themed “Millennium Silk Capital – Origin of Silk” at the conference.

In the afternoon, the agenda at the Conference Hall of the Palace of Nations was brilliant and fascinating. Stefano Inama, Geographical Indication Officer of the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD), conducted an in-depth analysis of the development trends of the global geographical indication industry. Ms. Carolina Quintana from the World Trade Point Federation (WTPF) emphasized the driving role of geographical indications in global trade during the conference. Ming Gang, General Manager of Liuhe Group, shared the enterprise’s century-long journey of inheriting and innovating silk. Since 1912, the group has been committed to deepening the entire silk industrial chain, with its products exported to more than 30 countries and regions successively. Its new product, the “Liuhe · Heaven, Earth and Four Directions” silk scarf, integrates regional culture and Oriental aesthetics perfectly by applying AI technology, becoming a vivid carrier of Nanchong silk culture. Luo Jianzhe, Secretary-General of the Organizing Committee of this event, Lei Kun from the Beijing International Economic and Trade Development Association, and Zhang Lin, Chairman of the Nanchong Textile Trade Union Federation, delivered speeches successively, introducing the development status of China’s geographical indication product brands and demonstrating the development vitality of China’s geographical indication brands.

At the conference, Liuhe Group’s “Siyun Liuhe” series products, including its silk scarfs displayed the combination of rich cultural heritage, creativity and technology.
